Frequently asked.
Do I need an account?
No. Tonari works fully on your device without signing in. Sign in with Apple is optional, and it enables encrypted backup to your private iCloud.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone or iPad, encrypted. If you sign in and back up, a copy syncs to your own iCloud private database, never to our servers. See the privacy policy.
I lost my recovery key. Can you restore my backup?
No. The recovery key is never stored by us. Without it, an encrypted backup cannot be opened. Your on-device history may still be available if you have not deleted the app.
How do I delete my account?
Open Tonari, then Care, Account, Delete account. This removes your Apple sign-in state, local crypto material, and the iCloud sync record. Local practice history can be cleared separately under Local history.
How do I use Apple Health?
In Care, open the Apple Health section. You can enable Mindful Minutes and optionally use recent sleep to place breath reminders. You can change permissions anytime in iOS Settings, Health, Tonari.
Drift audio stops when I lock the screen
Drift uses background audio. If playback stops, check that Low Power Mode is off and that Tonari has not been force-quit. Reopen Drift from the Drift card on the Breathe tab.
Is Tonari medical care?
No. Tonari is a companion for breathing and calm, not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. If you need immediate help, contact local emergency services or a crisis line in your area.
